UniGe ¦ MaLGa

Partners

This conference is organised by MaLGa, the Machine Learning Genoa Center of the University of Genoa, and is part of the activities of the MSCA ITN Project TraDE-OPT.

At a glance

TraDE-OPT is a training doctoral network funded by the EU (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Innovative Training Network ITN). The TraDE-OPT conference will celebrate the 4 years of the TraDE-OPT project by providing a chance for students and senior researchers to meet and present their latest research projects.

The final TraDE-OPT conference, dedicated to Optimization for Machine Learning and Inverse Problems will provide an opportunity for TraDE-OPT participants, including all PhD students, to present the results of their PhD. Besides the main scientific part, including presentations by invited keynote speakers, it will feature a day dedicated to the PhD students and focused on grant writing and the job market.

The conference will start with 3 days of talks from invited keynote speakers and presentations by the TraDE-OPT network PhD students. The last day will be dedicated, in line with the objectives of the network, to employability skills, in particular grant writing and developing an awareness of he current job market.

Logistics

The event will take place in the beautiful Sestri Levante, which is easily reachable by train from Genoa. The nearest airport is Cristoforo Colombo in Genoa, and the Pisa Airport is also a well-connected alternative.

The venue that will host us is called Convento dell’Annunziata, a renovated 1496 monastery on the extremity of the Sestri Levante peninsula, and is managed by Mediaterraneo, a public company belonging to Sestri Levante Municipality.

The municipality of Sestri Levante offers a list of suggested hotels on this page (https://www.sestri-levante.net/en/places-category/dormire-en/). We also suggest looking for a room using the most common online travel search engines.

On Wednesday and Thursday we will have lunch together at the venue, and on Thursday evening we will have a social dinner. As for the remaining meals, we have decided to leave room for some free time: Sestri Levante is a small but lively town in the Ligurian Riviera, which offers a lot of chances to have a quick lunch outside and wonder around.

Speakers & instructors

The conference will host invited speakers, and contributions by the TraDE-OPT PhD students.
