At a glance
From the early days of computational vision in the ’80s to breakthroughs in statistical learning and data-driven intelligence, the field of AI has undergone profound transformations.
Seeing, Learning, Evolving brings together colleagues, collaborators, and former students to celebrate the scientific journey of Alessandro Verri, whose work has played a pivotal role in advancing the theoretical and computational foundations of vision and learning, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and cross-disciplinary innovation.
The event will explore the evolution of ideas at the intersection of perception, inference, and representation from pattern recognition to machine learning to AI. It will also reflect on how these ideas have co-evolved with broader scientific and technological paradigms.
We believe that this gathering will be both a celebration of a remarkable career and a forward-looking dialogue on the future of computational science.
