Announcing TFML 2025
Advanced PhD Course on the Theoretical Foundations of Machine Learning
MaLGa is pleased to announce the 2025 edition of the Theoretical Foundations of Machine Learning (TFML) course. This advanced PhD-level program will take place from June 23 to June 27, 2025, at the University of Genoa. TFML provides an in-depth exploration of the fundamental principles of machine learning, making it an essential opportunity for PhD students and researchers eager to deepen their understanding of this rapidly evolving field.
The course is led by renowned experts and MaLGa faculty members Ernesto De Vito, Lorenzo Rosasco, and Silvia Villa, who will deliver comprehensive lectures on topics such as statistical learning theory, optimization methods, kernel methods, and neural networks. In addition to these structured sessions, the program will feature a dedicated workshop with invited speakers to offer broader perspectives on cutting-edge developments in machine learning.
Applications for TFML 2025 are now open and will close on March 16, 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply early. The course is open to participants worldwide, with registration fees waived for UniGe PhD students. For others, fees start at €50, depending on role and affiliation.
This intensive course is designed for those with a strong mathematical foundation and a commitment to rigorous learning. A certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of the course, and participants will have the option to submit a final report for evaluation.
