Seeing, Learning, Evolving
On 27–28 November 2025, MaLGa will host “Seeing, Learning, Evolving – An asymptotic journey through 65 Years of Alessandro Verri” in the Benvenuto lecture hall of the Architecture and Design Department (Stradone Sant’Agostino 37, Genoa).
The two-day event celebrates the scientific career of Alessandro Verri, full professor of Computer Science at DIBRIS and an international reference in computer vision, statistical learning, and artificial intelligence. The meeting brings together researchers and alumni who have collaborated with Verri over the decades, retracing how ideas on perception, learning, and data representation have evolved from the early days of computer vision in the 1980s to today’s AI challenges. Through three thematic sessions, the program features leading experts from computer science, applied mathematics, physics, and neuroscience, covering the full path from theory to algorithms and applications.
Seeing, Learning, Evolving is conceived as an open dialogue on the future of computational sciences, rooted in a tradition that values curiosity, interdisciplinarity, and intellectual freedom. The event is open to the scientific community and to anyone interested in vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
