Description
We develop computational imaging tools that reveal hidden features in cultural heritage artworks, including ancient paintings and illuminated manuscripts. For this, we make use of image reconstruction techniques relying on the diffusion/transport of colour information within the image domain and salient feature detection. Our methods uncover obscured/occluded details, reconstruct damaged elements by fusing information coming from multi-modal acquisitions and, overall, provide art historians and conservators with new insights into creation techniques and historical contexts.
